Similar expression ? but completely different!!

I got a new question of Japanese today.

なんでもいい(nandemo ii)
どっちでもいい(docchi demo ii)
どうでもいい(doudemo ii)

these Japanese expressions are really similar.
All words included "～いい(~ ii)"

So , let's learn the Japanese phrase "いい(ii)" first.

When we Japanese use this "いい(ii)" , we mean some meaning.

Good
OK
Fine
etc.....

Now , let's learn each 3 words meaning.

なんでもいい(nandemo ii)
Whatever is fine

どっちでもいい(docchi demo ii)
Whichever is fine.

both are similar.

Here's the example of these 2 words.


・A ,ねぇ、カモノハシ、晩ご飯は何がいい?
(nee kamonohashi , bangohan wa nani ga ii)
Hey Kamonohashi , what do you want to eat for the dinner?
B, なんでもいいよ
(nandemo iiyo)
Whatever is fine!

Whichever is fine.
both words use when you reply(answer) to something choose.

Then , what "どうでもいい(doudemo ii)" means ?


どうでもいい(doudemo ii) is not good meaning actually .

どうでもいい(doudemo ii) = I don't care.

"どうでも" express feeling like indifference , slapdash attitude.

So "どうでもいい(doudemo ii)" is

"I'm indifference for that . I won't refer to that but , if you are fine for that maybe it's fine."

Like this feeling.
