How to use the expression of "～てくれて" : Japanese lecture by Kamonohashi

Anyway , let's start today's Japanese lesson.

I got question from one of my followers and it is

"What is the meaning of てくれた(tekureta) or てくれて(tekurete) in 見てくれた(mitekureta) and 話してくれた(hanashite kureta) or 見てくれて(mitekurete) and 話してくれて(hanashitekurete) case?"

ok.

First , the common part for each sentences is 2 phrase.

～てくれて(~tekurete)

～てくれた(~tekureta)

What is the meaning of くれる(kureru) and くれた(kureta) ?

くれる(kureru)=give

くれた(kureta)=gave

So , if the sentence like below , くれる(kureru) and くれた(kureta) are work like above.

Subject + Noun + を(wo) + くれる(kureru) or くれた(kureta)

But today's case is not this case because ,

見てくれて(mite kurete)

話してくれて(hanashite kurete)

見てくれた(mite kureta)

話してくれた(hanashite kureta)

見て(mite) and 話し(hanashi) are Verbs.

so,

Subject + (Object + Target)Verbs + くれる(kureru) or くれた(kureta)

In this case , くれる(kureru) and くれた(kureta) means "for ~ "

For example ,

彼は私におとぎ話を話してくれた

(kare wa watashi ni otogibanashi wo hanashite kureta)

He told fairy tale for me.

彼女は、私が書いた絵を見てくれた。

(kanojo wa watashi ga kaita e wo mitekureta)

*She saw the picture drawn by me.

*....the action of "saw" is not just saw.

if you want to say just "saw" you can say "見た(mita)" in Japanese.

but , 見てくれた(mite kureta) has "Tenderness" feeling .

Now , please imagine.

.......

There are one boy and his girl friend. Both are live in another town each other.

One boy drew the picture of flower because , his girl friend has never seen any flowers in her life.

Then , he sent the picture to her.

Few days later she got the picture from the boy and she thought

He drew this picture for me!!!!

彼は、私に花の絵をかいてくれた！！！

(kare wa watashi ni hana no e wo kaite kureta!!!!)

Then she wrote the letter to the boy and sent.

When the boy got letter he thought

She saw my picture ! I'm so glad that I could made her happy.

彼女はぼくが書いた絵を見てくれた！彼女を幸せな気持ちにできてぼくはとても嬉しい。

(kanojo wa boku ga kaita e wo mite kureta! kanojo wo shiawase na kimochi ni dekite boku wa totemo ureshii)

The girl felt the tenderness of boy that drew the picture for her.

The boy felt the tenderness of girl that she wrote the letter and sent it to express her pleasure and gratitude for him.

Thus , in Japanese sentences , words , we often use the emotion with "Tenderness".

and we say its emotion in Japanese

"おもいやり(omoiyari)"
