は(wa)？わ(wa)? which should I use?? : Japanese lecture by Kamonohashi

Hi , everyone , Kamonohashi here.

Today I teach you Japanese "particle". And today's theme ....really easy to make a mistake.
So, please learn exactly.

First , how did you read the Japanese sentence above ??

S1,Konnichiwa. watashi ha kamonohashi desu.

S2,konnichiwa watashi wa kamonohashi desu.


Which is your answer??S2 is right.


は(ha)....this is one of Japanese hiragana and its pronunciation is "ha"
but , when you use as a particle , は is not "ha" but "wa"



は(ha).....When used as noun , verb , adverb , .....etc
は(wa).....When used as particle.


So, when は is used as just words(eg: はな(hana:flower),はしる(hashiru:run),はじめる(hajimeru:begin) ) は is read as "ha" . However , when used as just like

He is Kamonohashi.

かれ　は　かものはし　です。

(kare wa kamonohashi desu)

（* です(desu) is Japanese auxiliary verb）

は is read as "wa"

You understand??

in this case は is "wa"
